Pyridoxine and its derivatives, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxal have been recognized for more than 70 years and are known for regulating cellular biology and metabolism. During the past few decades, the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of pyridoxine and its vitamers were explored. However, an interesting turnabout was observed in pyridoxine chemical modification in the last two decades. The various important pathophysiological aspects of pyridoxine and its derivatives on several cellular systems have been discovered by researchers. Recent findings have shown that many diseases, like cancer, diabetes, hypertension, tuberculosis, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases are linked to the alteration of pyridoxine. Herein, our main focus is to review the importance of pyridoxine and its derivatives obtained by various chemical modifications, in various disease areas and to recognize important directions for future research.

Engineered nanostructures of mixed transition metal sulfides have emerged as promising nanomaterials (NMs) for various electrochemical sensors and biosensors applications, including glucose sensors (GS) and lactic acid sensors (LAS) in clinical aspects. Electrochemical sensors based on nanostructured materials, such as transition metal sulfides and their nanocomposites, including graphene, carbon nanotubes, molecularly imprinted polymers, and metal-organic frameworks, have emerged as potent tools for the monitoring and quantification of biomolecules. Highly sensitive and selective electrochemical detection systems have generally been established credibly by providing new functional surfaces, miniaturization processes, and different nanostructured materials with exceptional characteristics. This review provides an overview of glucose and lactic acid sensors based on transition metal nanomaterials and their nanocomposites with a detailed discussion about the advantages and challenges. The merits of nanoscale transition metal sulphide-based electrochemical sensors and biosensor systems include cost-effectiveness, ease of miniaturization process, energy- and time-efficient, simple preparation, etc. Moreover, online sensing competence is the dynamic strength for sustained progress of electrochemical detection systems, thus fascinating interdisciplinary research. In particular, we discuss the synthesis, characteristics, electrode construction strategies, and uses in electrochemical sensing of glucose and lactic acid primarily based on our most recent research and other reports. In addition, the challenges and future perspectives of the nanostructured transition metal sulfides-based electrochemical sensing and biosensing systems toward the detection of glucose and lactic acid are described.

Despite breakthroughs in medical sciences, drug development remains a time-consuming, expensive, challenging, and inefficient process with a high failure rate for novel therapeutic discoveries. Bioinformatics analysis can speed up drug target identification, drug candidate screening, and refining, but it can also help characterise adverse effects and anticipate drug resistance. Integrated genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics have resulted in potent new tactics for resolving numerous biochemical problems and establishing new methodologies that result in new biomedical products. As a result, a new research trend emerged to demonstrate the mechanism of therapeutic action, forecast drug resistance, and uncover biomarkers for various disorders. The development of new medications is a complicated procedure. There are two basic approaches to drug design: ligand-based drug design and structure-based drug design. The study of protein structure and function was essential for drug development. Current techniques based on combinatorial approaches such as proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular docking, and mass spectrometry were applied. This article provides an overview of the combinatorial techniques of proteomics, genomics, and bioinformatics that aid in understanding the drug-creation process.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a complex and progressive neurodegenerative disease, and the most common cause of dementia usually occurs due to old age. Production and accumulation of amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) represent the major pathological event of the disease. The formation of amyloid-β results due to proteolytic cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP) by beta-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme (BACE1) shown as the amyloid hypothesis, a prevalent theory for AD pathogenesis. Thus, BACE1 represents a novel target to decrease cerebral Aβ concentration and slow down the disease's progression. The structure-based drug design approach led to a wide variety of small molecules with the mechanism of action centered around inhibition of β-secretase protease (BACE1), which are shown to have drug-like properties and reduce brain Aβ levels. Based on transition state isosteres, BACE1 inhibitors can largely be classified as peptidomimetics and non-peptidomimetics. The subclasses of the two categories have been covered with different scaffolds like statin, norstatin, carbinamine, hydroxyethylene, hydroxyethylamine, acyl guanidine, 2-aminopyridine, aminoimidazole, aminohydantoin, aminothiazoline, aminooxazoline, aminoquinoline, piperazine-based. Among these small molecules, those who fulfilled general requirements for a drug aimed at the central nervous system (CNS) and selectivity over other aspartyl proteases reached the final pipeline of clinical trials. Here, in this review, we summarize the journey of BACE1 inhibitors through different practices of drug design development, Structural Activity Relationship (SAR), and other inhibitor candidates that are currently in clinical trials as BACE1 inhibitors.

Since late 2019, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused considerable mortality worldwide. This pandemic raised concerns and provoked research on the diagnosis and treatment of viruses-based diseases. The accurate diagnosis of a virus requires high specificity and sensitivity. Piezoelectric sensors are analytical devices that work on mass-sensitivity-based micromechanical transducers. The change in the mass by the interaction between biological elements and the frequency is recorded by measuring the alternate current and voltage. In addition to diagnosis, antiviral intervention strategies for mitigating various viral diseases are required. Nanomaterials-based antiviral therapy is efficient, particularly with carbon/metal/metal oxide (organic/inorganic) nanoparticles. Metal/metal oxide nanoparticles, such as gold (Au), silver (Ag), copper (Cu), selenium (Se), zinc oxide (ZnO), magnesium oxide (MgO), carbon dots (CDs), and carbon quantum dots (CQDs), are promising candidates for antiviral therapy. This review discusses the piezoelectric sensors used to detect various viruses, including COVID-19, and the various organic and inorganic nanoparticles involved in the antiviral therapy.

BACKGROUND: Cancer is one of the most important barriers to increasing life expectancy in all countries in the 21st century. Investigations of new anti-cancer drugs with low side effects are an urgent demand for medicinal chemists. Considering the known antitumor and immunomodulatory activity of thiazoles, this work presents the synthesis and antineoplastic activity of new thiazoles. METHODS: The 22 new compounds (2a-v) were synthesized from different thiosemicarbazones and 2-bromoacetophenone. The compounds were evaluated on: MOLT-4, HL-60, HL-60/MX1, MM1S, SKMEL-28, DU145, MCF-7, and T47d. RESULTS: Compound 2b induced cellular viability on MOLT-4 (37.1%), DU145 (41.5%), and HL-60/MX1 (58.8%) cells. On MOLT-4 cells, compound 2b exhibited an IC50 of 8.03 μM, and against DU145 cells, an IC50 of 6.04μM. Besides, at IC50 and fold of IC50, 20% to 30% of dead cells were found, most due to necrosis/late apoptosis. Most compounds showed no cytotoxicity against fibroblast cells L929 at the concentrations tested. The compound did not alter the cell cycle of DU145 cells when compared to the negative control. Therefore, compound 2b stands out against DU145 and MOLT-4 cells. CONCLUSION: Our study reinforced the importance of 1,3-thiazoles nuclei in antitumor activity. In addition, derivative 2b stands out against DU145 and MOLT-4 cells and could be a starting point for developing new antineoplastic agents.

Drug polymorphism is an important factor affecting the drugs quality and clinical efficacy. Therefore, great attention should be paid to the crystal analysis of drugs with their researching and evaluating part. With the booming development of Raman spectroscopy in recent years, more and more crystal analysis investigations were based on vibrational spectroscopy. This review mainly discussed the qualitative and quantitative analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and pharmaceutical preparation with Raman spectroscopy. On basis of the determination of the vibration mode of drug molecules and the analysis of their chemical structure, this method had the advantages of universal, non-destructive, fast determination, low samples and cost, etc. This review provides theoretical and technical support for crystal structure, which are worth popularizing. It is expected that it will be helpful to relevant government management institutions, pharmaceutical scientific research institutions and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The prevalence of depression has increased dramatically over the past few decades. Although depression is categorized as a brain disorder, its symptomatology includes some behaviors that also occur during chronic inflammatory stress. According to research, cytokine production and immune system activation may have a role in depression, so this relationship has received much attention. Moreover, there is a bidirectional relationship between oxidative stress and inflammation. Oxidative stress plays a pathogenic role in chronic inflammatory diseases; depressive disorder is being suggested as one of them. Recent research using several oxidative stress indicators demonstrates that antioxidant defenses are diminished and oxidative stress is elevated in depression. Another cytokine-related mechanism widely known for its association with inflammatory illnesses is the kynurenine pathway (KP). KP is responsible for maintaining the balance between neuroprotective and neurogenerative processes in the brain. Therefore, KP plays a role in the pathophysiology of depression. It is thought to impact neurological processes that stem the depression, making it one of the mainstays in explaining oxidative stress-depression-inflammation interrelation. The mechanism is thought to be driven by increasing the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, IDO, and thus the KYN/TRP ratio. This review aims to evaluate the relationship between oxidative stress, depression, and inflammation through the kynurenine pathway through the current studies in the literature.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 virus caused countless significant alterations in the human race, the most challenging of which was respiratory and neurological disorders. Several studies were conducted to find a robust therapy for the virus, which led to a slew of additional health issues. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to understand the changes in the neurological system brought about by COVID-19 drugs and highlights the drug-drug interaction between COVID-19 drugs and psychiatric drugs. Alongside this, the study focuses on the neuropsychological changes in three critical mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. METHODS: The comprehensive and narrative review being performed in this paper, has brought together the relevant work done on the association of COVID-19 drugs and changes in the neurological system. For this study, a systematic search was performed on several databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. This study also consolidates shreds of evidence about the challenges confronted by patients having disorders like Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. This review is based on the studies done on COVID-19 drugs from mid-2020 to date. CONCLUSION: We have identified some scopes of crucial future opportunities which could add more depth to the current knowledge on the association of COVID-19 drugs and the changes in the neurological system. This study may present scope for future work to investigate the pathophysiological changes of these disorders due to COVID-19.

Iridoids are secondary plant metabolites that are multitarget compounds active against various diseases. Iridoids are structurally classified into iridoid glycosides and non-glycosidic iridoids according to the presence or absence of intramolecular glycosidic bonds; additionally, iridoid glycosides can be further subdivided into carbocyclic iridoids and secoiridoids. These monoterpenoids belong to the cyclopentan[c]-pyran system, which has a wide range of biological activities, including antiviral, anticancer, antiplasmodial, neuroprotective, anti-thrombolytic, antitrypanosomal, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, anti-oxidant, antihyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory properties. The basic chemical structure of iridoids in plants (the iridoid ring scaffold) is biosynthesized in plants by the enzyme iridoid synthase using 8-oxogeranial as a substrate. With advances in phytochemical research, many iridoid compounds with novel structure and outstanding activity have been identified in recent years. Biologically active iridoid derivatives have been found in a variety of plant families, including Plantaginaceae, Rubiaceae, Verbenaceae, and Scrophulariaceae. Iridoids have the potential of modulating many biological events in various diseases. This review highlights the multitarget potential of iridoids and includes a compilation of recent publications on the pharmacology of iridoids. Several in vitro and in vivo models used, along with the results, are also included in the paper. This paper's systematic summary was created by searching for relevant iridoid material on websites such as Google Scholar, PubMed, SciFinder Scholar, Science Direct, and others.The compilation will provide the researchers with a thorough understanding of iridoid and its congeners, which will further help in designing a large number of potential compounds with a strong impact on curing various diseases.

BACKGROUND: Zika virus (ZIKV) remains an important cause of congenital infection, fetal microcephaly, and Guillain-Barré syndrome in the population. In 2016, WHO declared a cluster of microcephaly cases and other neurological disorders reported as a global public health emergency in Brazil. There is still no specific treatment for Zika virus fever, only palliative care. Therefore, there is a need for new therapies against this disease. According to the literature, thiosemicarbazone, phthalimide and thiazole are privileged structures with several biological activities, including antiviral activity against various viruses. OBJECTIVE: Based on this, this work presents an antiviral screening using previously synthesized compounds derived from thiosemicarbazone, phthalimide, and thiazole as new hits active against ZIKV. METHODS: After synthesis and characterization, all compounds were submitted to Cytotoxicity by MTT and Antiviral activity against ZIKV assays. RESULTS: Compounds 63, 64, 65, and 73 exhibited major reductions in the ZIKV title from this evaluation. Compounds 63 (99.74%), 64 (99.77%), 65 (99.92%), and 73 (99.21%) showed a higher inhibition than the standard 6MMPr (98.74%) at the CC20 dose. These results revealed new chemical entities with anti-ZIKV activity. CONCLUSION: These derivatives are promising candidates for further assays. In addition, the current approach brings a new privileged scaffolding, which may drive future drug discovery for ZIKV.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality globally. Although sub- substantial advances have been made in the diagnosis, management, and risk stratification of CAD, there is still a need for novel diagnostic biomarkers and new therapeutic targets to prevent the epi- demic of the disease. Recently, growing evidence has linked dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) to cardiovascular diseases, including CAD. miRNAs are endogenous, stable, single-stranded, short, non-coding RNAs, and may have utility as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for CAD. Dysregulated miRNAs are involved in regulating lipid and glucose homeostasis pathways, renin- angiotensin-aldosterone pathways, inflammation, endothelial and vascular smooth cell phenotypes promoting atherosclerotic plaque development, progression, and instability. Additionally, miRNAs are stable and easily accessible in the extracellular space, may reside in microvesicles, and are detectable in serum or plasma, making them attractive biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of cardiovascular disease. Accumulating studies suggest that miRNAs could be useful biomarkers for early discrimination of patients presenting with myocarditis or Takotsubo syndrome from those with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction, early prognostication of patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes, and accurate detection of left ventricular remodeling after a chronic or acute ischemic event. Moreover, miRNAs represent potential novel therapeutic targets for CAD or other cardiovascular diseases. This review provides an overview of the effects of the entire spectrum of CAD, its major risk factors, and complications on levels of circulating miRNAs, as well as the limitations and challenges of their potential clinical applications.

BACKGROUND: Since the emergence of HSV resistant strains, new antiviral agents have emerged and still are urgently needed, especially those with alternative targets. OBJECTIVE: In this work, we evaluated new quinolone derivatives as anti-HSV. METHODS: For this study, cells were infected and treated with different components to evaluate the profile of HSV replication in vitro. In addition, studies were performed to determine the pharmacokinetic toxicity and profile of the compound. RESULTS: Indeed the EC50 values of these promising molecules ranged between 8 µM and 32 µM. We have also showed that all compounds inhibited the expression of ICP27 viral proteins, which gives new insights in the search for new target for antiherpetic therapy. Chlorine in positions C6 and phosphonate in position C1 have shown to be important for viral inhibition. The chloroquinolone carboxamide derivatives fulfilled "Lipinsky Rule of Five" for good oral bioavailability and showed higher intestinal absorption and blood brain barrier penetration, as well as lower toxicity profile. CONCLUSION: Although the inhibition activities of chloroquinolone carboxamide derivatives were lower than acyclovir, they showed different modes of action in comparison to the drugs currently available. These findings encourage us to continue pre-clinical studies for the development of new anti-HSV-1 agents.

Eukaryotic cells have separate membrane-enclosed organelles with distinct biochemical identities and specialized functions. The unique characteristics of each organelle are regulated by asymmetric distribution and intra-cellular trafficking of two important biomolecules, proteins and lipids. Non-vesicular lipid transport facilitated by lipid transfer proteins performs essential roles in intracellular lipid trafficking and homeostasis, while vesicular transport regulates protein trafficking. Comparative analysis of lipid transport machinery in protists could help us to understand the basis of parasitism and insight into eukaryotic evolution. Trichomonas vaginalis, a parasitic protist, greatly depends on receptor-ligand-mediated signaling pathways for cellular differentiation, nutrient uptake, secretion of virulence factors, and pathogenesis. Lipids, despite being key molecules of signaling cascades, have mechanisms of intracellular transport that are largely unexplored in T. vaginalis. We have identified a repertoire of seventeen potential lipid transfer protein (LTP) homologs in T. vaginalis based on a domain-based search on TrichDB (genome database of Trichomonas) coupled with bioinformatics analyses, which indicates the presence of well-organized lipid transport machinery in this parasite. We emphasized here their evolutionary uniqueness and conservation and discussed their potential implications for parasite biology in regard to future therapeutic targets against Trichomoniasis.

Background The downward trend in malaria cases and deaths is steadily reversed - 627,000 deaths in 2020 compared to 405,000 deaths in 2018. Drug resistance has compromised the effectiveness of currently available treatment options, with some reports documenting molecular markers of resistance to artemisinins in African countries in addition to the Greater Mekong subregion, which was initially associated with this kind of resistance. Therefore, the development of novel drugs is crucial to replenishing the antimalarial drug arsenal toward malaria eradication. In this review, we summarize the progress made in antimalarial drug discovery in the period 2000 - 2022, focusing on drug candidates which have made it to advanced preclinical trials (drugs tested in rodent species and at least one higher species such as dog or monkey) and beyond. Method We searched Google Scholar and selected studies meeting these defined criteria. We highlight the medicinal chemistry optimization of these compounds; the preclinical/clinical evaluation and the mechanisms of action. Results and conclusion Although the pipeline seems promising, the prospect of having an antimalarial medicine that meets the current target product profiles (TPPs) towards the malaria eradication agenda is far from reality. Some of the key TPP attributes required include multistage activity, resistance-proof; ability to achieve a single dose cure and safety across a wide range of patient populations. Clinical trials are ongoing for some promising molecules, inspiring optimism toward identifying better drugs that meet these defined TPPs. Until then, concerted research efforts should continue to be mounted to populate the antimalarial drug discovery and development pipeline.

BACKGROUND: Colebrookea oppositifolia Sm. is a valuable traditional therapeutic plant belonging to the family Lamiaceae. It is a dense and wool-like shrub that is mostly found in subtropical regions of some countries of Asia, such as China and India. It has been widely used for the mitigation of nervous system disorders like epilepsy. The active constituents of the plant have exhibited antioxidant, anti-microbial, and antifungal properties, which are considered due to the presence of polyphenols and flavonoids as chief chemical constituents. Flavonoids like quercetin, landenein, chrysin, and 5, 6, 7-trimethoxy flavones cause protein denaturation of the microbial cell wall. OBJECTIVES: To comprehend and assemble the fragmented pieces of evidence presented on the traditional uses, botany, phytochemistry, and pharmacology of the plant to reconnoiter its therapeutic perspective and forthcoming research opportunities. METHODS: The available information on Colebrookea oppositifolia has been established by electronically searching peer-reviewed literature from PubMed, Google Scholar, Springer, Scopus, Web of Science, and Science Direct over the earlier few years. RESULTS: The plant has been greatly used for the preparation of many herbal medicines which are used for treating traumatic injuries, fever, rheumatoid arthritis, headache, and gastric problems. From the aerial parts of the plant, a phenylethanoid glycoside named acteoside has been isolated and evaluated for its therapeutic potential viz. immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, analgesic, anti-tumour, antispasmodic, antioxidant, antibacterial, free radical scavenger, and improving sexual function. Acteoside showed neuroprotective activities against Aβ-peptide, which is neurotoxic and causes apoptosis. The petroleum ether extract of the plant leaves offers many active compounds like sitosterol, n-triacontane, hydroxydotriacontyl ferulate, acetyl alcohol, and 3,7,4,2-tetramethoxyflavones which have shown hepatoprotective potential. CONCLUSION: The plant should be evaluated further for the estimation of some other health benefits. The consequences of restricted pharmacological screening and reported phytomolecules of Colebrookea oppositifolia Sm. advocate that there is still an exigent requisite for in-depth pharmacological studies of the plant.

Physical injuries in sports are unavoidable, but they can be mitigated and even treated by using molecular hydrogen, which can be administered via a specially formulated sunscreen. The photocatalysts are a special class of semiconductors that can absorb a specific spectrum of light to promote its electron from the valance band (VB) to the conduction band (CB). This creates positively charged holes at VB and negatively charged electrons at CB in generating photochemical reaction centres. Once a photocatalyst that absorbs a harmful UV band from sunlight and can split water is doped inside a hydrogel will produce hydrogen in the presence of sunlight. If we employ such photocatalyst-doped hydrogel over naked skin, the hydrogel will act as a continuous source of water, which will absorb water from sweet, store it inside the hydrogel matrix and deliver it to the photocatalyst for splitting it further into the hydrogen. As a result, such photocatalyst-doped hydrogel can be used as a sunscreen to protect against sunlight and can use that spectrum of light for producing hydrogen from sweat continuously. Hydrogen can be absorbed through the skin and diffused in the body to heal wound-prone or injured muscles, and nerves. Because hydrogen may travel throughout the body, the catalyst-doped hydrogel can be used as a topical gel to treat various ailments such as muscle-nerve skin injuries, cancer, Parkinson's disease, and others. Besides common people, even athletes can use it as sunscreen during sports, which is not feasible for other hydrogen administrating systems.

As atherosclerosis remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide despite the advances in its medical and interventional management, the identification of markers associated with its incidence and prognosis constitutes an appealing prospect. In this regard, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), a well-studied endogenous endothelial nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, represents a core mediator of endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerotic diseases. Given the pathophysiologic background of this molecule, its importance in the most frequent atherosclerotic manifestation, coronary artery disease (CAD), has been extensively studied in the past decades. The available evidence suggests elevation of ADMA in the presence of common cardiovascular risk factors, namely diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, and hypertriglyceridemia, being related to endothelial dysfunction and incident major adverse cardiovascular events in these groups of patients. Moreover, ADMA is associated with CAD occurrence and severity, as well as its prognosis, especially in populations with renal impairment. Interestingly, even in the absence of obstructive CAD, increased ADMA may indicate coronary endothelial dysfunction and epicardial vasomotor dysfunction, which are prognostication markers for incident cardiovascular events. In the case of acute coronary syndromes, high ADMA levels signify an augmented risk of incomplete ST-segment elevation resolution and poorer prognosis. Abnormal ADMA elevations may indicate adverse outcomes following percutaneous or surgical coronary revascularization, such as in-stent restenosis, graft patency, and hard cardiovascular endpoints. Finally, since its association with inflammation is significant, chronic inflammatory conditions may present with coronary endothelial dysfunction and subclinical coronary atherosclerosis by means of increased coronary artery calcium, with augmented ADMA acting as a biomarker.

BACKGROUND: Chagas disease (American Trypanosomiasis) is classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the seventeen neglected tropical diseases (NTD), affecting, mainly, several regions of Latin America. INTRODUCTION: However, immigration has expanded the range of this disease to other continents. Thousands of patients with Chagas disease die annually, yet no new therapeutics for Chagas disease have been approved, with only nifurtimox and benznidazole available. Treatment with these drugs presents several challenges, including protozoan resistance, toxicity, and low efficacy. Natural products, including the secondary metabolites found in plants, offer a myriad of complex structures that can be sourced directly or optimized for drug discovery. METHOD: Therefore, this review aims to assess the literature from the last 10 years (2011 - 2021) and present the anti-T. cruzi compounds isolated from plants in this period, as well as briefly discuss computational approaches and challenges in natural product drug discovery. Using this approach, more than 350 different metabolites were divided based on their biosynthetic pathway - alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, polyketides, and phenylpropanoids which displayed activity against different forms of this parasite - epimastigote, trypomastigote and more important, the intracellular form, amastigote. CONCLUSION: In this aspect, there are several compounds with high potential which could be considered as a scaffold for the development of new drugs for the treatment of Chagas disease - for this, more advanced studies must be performed including pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) analysis as well as conduction of in vivo assays, these being important limitations in the discovery of new anti-T. cruzi compounds.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder having a global prevalence of nearly doubled over the last 30 years and has become one of the major health concerns worldwide. The number of adults with diabetes increased to 537 million in 2021. INTRODUCTION: The overarching goal of diabetic research and treatment has always been to restore insulin independence and an average blood glucose level. Chemotherapeutic antidiabetic agents can manage diabetes but often show toxicity and drug resistance. Natural phytomedicines may be useful along with stem cell therapy for diabetes management. Even if the whole pancreatic organ and islet transplantation, are becoming benchmark techniques for diabetes management and control, a considerable scarcity of eligible donors of pancreatic tissues and organs severely limits their use. Stem cell treatment provides a bunch of possibilities for treating people with diabetes. METHODS: For this purpose, comprehensive article searching was conducted, with relevant material obtained using search engines such as Scopus, PubMed, MEDLINE, Google, and others, using appropriate keywords. RESULTS: Stem cell therapies, including induced pluripotent stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells, are now becoming a popular area of investigation. Recent advancements in stem cell therapy might provide a feasible treatment option. Furthermore, in recent years, some novel bioactive compounds derived from plants have demonstrated antidiabetic action with higher potency than oral hypoglycaemic medications. Recent regenerative medicine and stem cell treatment advancements might subsequently provide a feasible diabetic management option. On the other hand, medicinal herbs have been considered a better choice for the extensive treatment of diabetes. CONCLUSION: If proper attention is not given to control diabetes by antidiabetic chemotherapeutic agents, natural phytomedicine, and sophisticated treatment like stem cell therapy, then the lifespan of patients will be decreased, and some associated secondary problems will also arise. So, the present review attempts to discuss naturopathy as an alternative resource in combination with stem cell therapy for the progressive management of diabetes and associated disorders.
